for men with smaller chests, yes, that would be easier

but for men who have slightly larger chests to bind it might be difficult to make the prosthetic look realistic, not stretch weirdly against their real chest, but also not be too constrictive.

I’ve tried some forms of binding that were rather painful or didn’t breathe very well

I would be afraid to assume that the product would not pinch or give anyone a rash or something…

while eventually I would like these to be binders themselves/ have them built in, I want to start by seeing how well it will work on just a visual level.

When I start making trial ones and testing them on myself, I will also make one that is meant to act as a binder on its own, so if it is dreadfully uncomfortable, I will be its first victim XD

For a little over a year I’ve been scheming on the possibility of making a realistic prosthetic chest that could be worn over my binding

this would allow me to be:

• shirtless in front of people (if only close ones) and/ or
• able to have an open shirt
• or wear shirts which would usually not cover the edges of my binder.

If this vision ever enters reality, I would like to eventually perfect the product for use while swimming. Needing to wear a shirt when I swim compromises my personal style, as well as making me feel self-conscious. It only reminds me that I have anything there to cover, that my body just isn’t representing me.

However, thinking on this eventual additional goal is putting the cart before the horse (pardon my trite).

First, the brainstorming for the basic idea must begin.

I realize making prosthetic chests is going to be a more expensive undertaking than making prosthetic gentials; Partly because a dick, as far as form, can pretty much fit nicely onto any body (color, size, et cetera are issues to be addressed for customization, of course).

But in the case of making chests…most all would need to be custom.

• A mold would need to be made of the customer while binding, so that the inside of the chest could conform comfortably to his body and to be sure the pecks would not squeeze too much on his bound area.
• A mold would also need to be made of the chest of a man without breasts for the outside of the prosthetics

                     -This man’s proportions would have to be believably similar to the customer’s to prevent shrunken or elongated looking forms that would retract from the realism

• the other option is not to make the outside of the prosthetic from the mold of an actual person (which not only complicates the process but increases the cost by increasing the number of people paid in the product’s creation)

                  -rather, the chest could simply be sculpted over the mold of the customer by sculpters expert in anatomy.

• While I writhe at the thought of products that are not specially made for the man, I also realize trans men have many financial strains already, and I dream of offering something like this someday at an affordable price.
• Perhaps the best way to do this is to start with an original set of molds from people of various chest sizes, and then each model can be produced from that mold more than once- men could shop for chests by bra sizes (as measured when binding if necessary)
• in case of unique proprtions, custom chests could be made, but the usual styles would eventually become less expensive :3

Idk. Some day I hope to have this fully planned out. I will start with a test one I’ll make for myself (the most awkward part will be picking a man’s chest…so perhaps i’ll just sculpt one…NOTE TO SELF GET INTO ADVANCED FIGURE DRAWING AND THEN THE ANATOMY CLASS AND ALSO THE SCULPTURE CLASS TO PERFECT TECHNIQUE)
